Advisory Council

The Advisory Council consists of:

  • The executive director of TJJD or the executive director’s designee;
  • The director of probation services of TJJD or the director’s designee;
  • The director of state services of TJJD or the director’s designee;
  • The commissioner of human services or the commissioner’s designee;
  • The commissioner of the Department of Family and Protective Services or the commissioner’s designee;
  • Two juvenile court judges, appointed by the TJJD Board of Directors;
  • One representative of the county commissioners courts, appointed by the TJJD Board of Directors; and
  • Seven Chief Juvenile Probation Officers, appointed by the TJJD Board of Directors, with representation from each of the following:
    • the seven Juvenile Probation Chiefs Associations in Texas;
    • a county with fewer than 7500 juveniles;
    • a county with at least 7500, but fewer than 80,000 juveniles; and
    • a county with 80,000 or more juveniles
