OJJDP FY 2026 Second Chance Act Youth Reentry Program

By Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, September 25, 2026

OJJDP’s newly posted FY2026 Second Chance Act Youth Reentry Program provides a current federal framework for strengthening reentry services for moderate- and high-risk youth. The solicitation supports comprehensive services before, during and after release, including transitional services intended to help youth return successfully to their communities. Eligible partnerships can include state agencies, local governments, federally recognized Tribes and community-based organizations. The opportunity is particularly relevant because reentry challenges cross multiple systems, including housing, education, employment, behavioral health, family support and supervision. The announcement is not evidence that any individual program is effective; rather, it demonstrates current federal investment and policy emphasis. For TJJD, it is useful both as a national development and as an indicator of the types of collaborative reentry models jurisdictions may pursue.
